The Bahraini delegation for the 6th Asian Beach Games has arrived in Sanya, China, where the event will be held from 22 to 30 April. The delegation reached its accommodation on Wednesday evening after travelling via Doha, having departed Bahrain on Tuesday and stayed overnight in the Qatari capital before continuing to Sanya.
Upon arrival, the delegation settled into the athletes’ village, which is hosting all participating teams in a well-organised setting.
The team travelled from Hamad International Airport on a special flight arranged by the Olympic Council of Asia for GCC delegations. The journey, which lasted around eight hours, brought together Gulf teams in a shared travel experience, supported by smooth logistical arrangements and facilitation by the Bahraini administrative staff.
The delegation is headed by Mr Ahmed Mohammed Abdul Ghaffar, with Ms Maryam Mardana serving as Deputy Head of Delegation. The administrative team includes Ali Al-Tajir, Hasan Juma, Ahmed Al-Alaiwat and Abdulla Al-Ansari, alongside a media delegation assigned to cover the Games.
The media team comprises Mr Hasan Ali, Head of Media at the Bahrain Olympic Committee, journalist Ahmed Tawfiq, and photographers Ali Al-Halwaji and Ali Al-Bosta, who will provide coverage of Bahrain’s participation in the continental event.
Bahrain will compete in four sports: beach handball, 3x3 basketball, open water swimming and wrestling, with the national teams aiming to deliver strong performances.
The teams will continue their preparations in Sanya over the coming days, making use of the available facilities to ensure full readiness ahead of the competitions.
Meanwhile, the 3x3 basketball team has travelled to Guangzhou for a training camp after a short rest period in Sanya, as part of preparations to reach peak technical and physical condition.
