Bahrain Olympic Committee Meets National Federations Ahead of Asian Youth Games Participation in 24 Sports

As part of the preparations for the 3rd Asian Youth Games, set to take place in the Kingdom of Bahrain from 22 to 31 October 2025, the Bahrain Olympic Committee held a coordination meeting with the national sports federations participating in the event. The meeting took place at the lecture hall of the Bahrain National Stadium, with the attendance of Chef de Mission Mr Ahmed Mohammed Abdul Ghaffar, Deputy Chef de Mission Mr Abbas Mousa Bu Hassan, and members of the administrative and media delegations.

Mr Abdul Ghaffar welcomed all attendees and conveyed the greetings of the Committee’s Secretary General, His Excellency Mr Faris Mustafa Al Kooheji. He introduced the administrative and media teams, highlighting the importance of early and thorough preparation for this continental event, with the aim of honouring the Kingdom’s name and achieving results that reflect the ambition, determination, and excellence of Bahraini youth.

He provided a comprehensive overview of the Games, which will feature 24 sports, 31 disciplines, and 253 events for both genders. The official opening is scheduled for 22 October, with competitions running until 31 October. However, some events will commence as early as 19 October.

Mr Abdul Ghaffar outlined the schedule and main venues for the competitions, which include Isa Sports City, Khalifa Sports City, and the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre, in addition to various satellite venues such as the Bahrain International Endurance Village, Royal Golf Club, Sama Bay, Sheraton Bahrain Hotel, Military Sports Union, Nasser bin Hamad Cycling Track, and Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq.

He also noted that the Bahraini delegation will be accommodated in multiple hotels, with each sport allocated to a hotel located in close proximity to its respective competition venue. The farthest hotel is no more than a 35-minute drive from the designated competition sites. Training venues and facilities for all participating national teams were also reviewed.

Mr Abdul Ghaffar reminded federations that the deadline for submitting long lists of athletes was 12 June, while the final athlete lists are due by 14 August, urging all federations to submit their entries promptly to ensure smooth logistical planning.

Bahrain is set to participate in the following 24 sports:
