The 6th edition of the School Games commenced today, organised by the Bahrain Olympic Committee as part of its initiative to develop the sports sector and create a nurturing environment for identifying and developing young sporting talent in the Kingdom. The competition will run from 23 September to 3 October, just ahead of the much-anticipated International School Games (Bahrain 2024), the largest school sports event to date, featuring around 5,000 students from 80 countries competing in 25 different sports.

This local tournament, featuring 19 sports, including basketball, handball, beach volleyball, athletics, swimming, fencing, and more, will be held across multiple venues, such as Umm Al Hassam Basketball Hall for basketball, Isa Sports City for beach volleyball athletics, and other sports, and Al Jazair Beach for cycling and sailing.

Yesterday’s beach volleyball results (boys) were as follows: Modern School (A) defeated Asian (A) 2-0, Sheikh Abdulaziz School (A) won against St. Christopher’s (A) 2-0, and several other schools showcased similar commanding victories. For the girls' competitions, results included wins by Al-Muharraq School (B) and Shaikha Hessa School (A) over their respective opponents, each by two clean sets.

Ahmed Al-Omran School dominated Hawar School in boys' handball, winning 59-23. These matches are part of an exciting competition to foster sportsmanship and teamwork among Bahrain's future athletes.
