His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee and Head of Bahrain’s delegation, attended the opening day of the athletics competition at the 20th Asian Games, Aichi-Nagoya 2026, which continue until 4 October, as Bahrain made a superb start by securing two gold medals.

His Highness witnessed Winfred Yavi claim gold in the women’s 10,000 metres, while Team Bahrain delivered another outstanding performance to secure the gold medal in the mixed 4×400 metres relay, further underlining the Kingdom’s strong presence on the Asian sporting stage.

His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa expressed his pride and delight at the two gold-medal achievements, commending the exceptional performances of Bahrain’s athletes and the determination, perseverance and competitive spirit they displayed in reaching the top of the podium and raising the Kingdom’s flag at this prestigious continental event.

His Highness also praised the efforts of the Bahrain Athletics Association, the technical and administrative teams and the athletes, noting that the results reflect the high standing Bahrain has achieved in athletics. He expressed his confidence and hope that the Kingdom’s athletes would continue their strong performances and add further medals and achievements throughout the remaining competitions of the Games.
