Shaikha Hessa bint Khalid Al Khalifa, Member of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Olympic Committee and Chairperson of the Equal Opportunities and Gender Balance Committee in Sport, attended the FIBA Foundation Clinic, organised by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) as part of the social programme accompanying the FIBA Congress 2025 and Hall of Fame Ceremony hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The event took place at Khalifa Sports City Stadium, in the presence of a number of global basketball legends, led by German star Dirk Nowitzki, the iconic Dallas Mavericks player from the NBA, who engaged enthusiastically with the participating children and encouraged them throughout the clinic.
The clinic featured strong participation from the boys and girls of the “I Am Talented” programme, who trained alongside a broad group of children and youth under the guidance of FIBA-certified coaches.
The training focused on core basketball skills such as passing, shooting, and teamwork, while also instilling key values including discipline, collaboration, and equality.
In her remarks during the event, Shaikha Hessa bint Khalid Al Khalifa expressed her full support for initiatives that empower youth and open new pathways for their development through sport. She praised the high level of organisation and wide participation, which reflect Bahrain’s commitment to promoting community-based sports and gender equality across all fields.
This participation further highlights the pioneering role of the “I Am Talented” programme in identifying and nurturing young Bahraini sports talents, while promoting the principles of sustainable development through education and interactive training in the sporting sector.
