Shaikh Isa bin Ali Congratulates the Leadership on Bahrain’s Historic Asian Handball Triumph

His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, extended his highest congratulations and blessings to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, may God protect and preserve him, and to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, on the occasion of the historic achievement realised by Bahrain’s senior national handball team in winning the Asian Handball Championship title for the first time in its history.

His Highness affirmed that this unprecedented continental achievement, secured by the national team ‘Red Hand’ after being crowned champions of the 22nd Asian Men’s Handball Championship, hosted by the sisterly State of Kuwait, reflects the extensive support and high-level patronage enjoyed by Bahraini sport under the wise leadership. He noted that the achievement embodies the fruits of ambitious national visions that have placed sport at the forefront of excellence and achievement.

His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa also extended his congratulations to His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and to His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee. He commended the significant role and tireless efforts of both Their Highnesses in implementing the leadership’s vision, advancing Bahrain’s sporting system, and creating an ideal environment for achieving continental and international success.

His Highness praised the outstanding performance and high technical standards displayed by Bahrain’s national team players, which culminated in a deserved victory over the Qatari national team in the final match after extra time, by a score of 29–26. This triumph brought an end to a long run of runner-up finishes and saw Bahrain ascend the Asian podium for the first time, while also confirming qualification for the 2027 IHF Men’s Handball World Championship, to be held in Germany.

The Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee emphasised that this historic title represents a shining milestone in the history of Bahraini sport and a strong incentive to continue building upon this success. He expressed his best wishes to the national handball team for continued success in upcoming competitions and for raising the flag of the Kingdom of Bahrain high at international sporting events.

It is noteworthy that His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa attended the final match between Bahrain and Qatar and took part in the medal ceremony, during which Bahrain’s players were crowned with the historic Asian trophy and gold medals, a moment that will remain etched in the memory of Bahraini sport.
