The Bahrain Olympic Committee participated in the 46th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), which was held on Monday, 26 January 2026, in Tashkent. The Bahraini delegation was headed by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, and included Mr Faris Mustafa Al-Kooheji, Secretary General; Mr Eshaq Ebrahim Eshaq, Board Member; Ms Fajer Jassim, Board Member and Director of Arab and International Relations; and Mr Ahmed Abdul Ghaffar, Executive Director of Operations

The Bahrain Olympic Committee participated in the 46th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), which was held on Monday, 26 January 2026, in Tashkent. The Bahraini delegation was headed by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, and included Mr Faris Mustafa Al-Kooheji, Secretary General; Mr Eshaq Ebrahim Eshaq, Board Member; Ms Fajer Jassim, Board Member and Director of Arab and International Relations; and Mr Ahmed Abdul Ghaffar, Executive Director of Operations.

The General Assembly witnessed the endorsement of His Excellency Shaikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Khalifa, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, as President of the Olympic Council of Asia.[zh1] 

Asian delegations were honoured to meet His Excellency Mr Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, who welcomed the participants and commended the pivotal role played by the Olympic Council of Asia in advancing sport across the Asian continent.

The General Assembly agenda included a welcoming address by the Acting President of the Olympic Council of Asia, Mr Raja Randhir Singh, followed by a video message from Ms Kirsty Coventry, President of the International Olympic Committee.

During the meeting, the Olympic Council of Asia Merit Award was presented to Dr Hafiz Wali Rahman of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. In addition, host city contracts were signed for the 4th Asian Youth Games (Tashkent 2029) and the Asian Youth Games (Cambodia 2031).

The Assembly approved the minutes of the previous General Assembly and reviewed reports presented by the Vice Presidents representing the regions of West Asia, East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and Central Asia. Furthermore, Mr Witold Bańka, President of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), delivered a report outlining the Agency’s latest developments.

The meeting also featured final reports on previous Asian Games editions, updates from the organising committees of upcoming Asian events, and a review of the latest developments related to the Olympic Solidarity Commission.
