Bahrain Leads the Charge for Gender Equality in Sports at Gulf Women’s Hackathon

Seef District, Bahrain Olympic Committee - The Bahrain Olympic Committee announces its participation in the Gulf Women’s Sports Hackathon, hosted in Muscat, Oman from March 1st to 4th. This initiative underscores the committee's commitment to fostering equal opportunities across genders in sports.

The Bahraini delegation, comprising members of the Committee for Equal Opportunities between the Genders, included Salama Ateeq, Wafa Ibrahim Al-Jazzaf, Nouf Hayel Al-Qahtani from the Olympic Committee, and Dana Abdul Latif Abdul Khaleq from the Bahrain Football Association. Their involvement highlights the national effort to promote inclusivity and empowerment in sports.

The hackathon addressed several pivotal topics, such as enhancing community sports for women, leveraging technology to boost women's sports in the Gulf, exploring sports employment and investment opportunities, and launching new sports initiatives and programs.

The Bahraini representatives proposed numerous innovative ideas aimed at discovering, nurturing, and developing young talent across genders, utilizing artificial intelligence for talent selection, establishing a Gulf league, and advocating for sports professionalism among female athletes across all disciplines to enable financial independence through sports.

Additionally, the delegation emphasized the significance of creating unified programs and projects to advance women's sports in the Gulf region and proposed the development of a Gulf-wide program for identifying sports talents.

As the hackathon concluded, with a plethora of ideas shared, the selection of the winning proposal will be made at a later date. This engagement not only showcases Bahrain's proactive stance on gender equality in sports but also sets the stage for transformative developments in the Gulf's sporting landscape.
