The Olympic Academy Promotes Physical Literacy for Children

Seef District - Bahrain Olympic Committee:

In a proactive initiative aimed at fostering the physical health and overall development of children, the Olympic Academy of the Bahrain Olympic Committee organized a comprehensive physical literacy program for youngsters in the foundational stage. The event, which took place at Isa Town Primary and Preparatory School for Boys from January 7 to 11, saw active participation from a group of children associated with the Barbar Club.

Tailored for the age group of 7-9 years, the program focused on refining fundamental motor skills crucial for a child's physical development. Specific exercises designed for this age range were employed, encompassing activities such as one-foot balance exercises, straight-line walking, running drills involving rapid direction changes, and jumping and landing exercises to bolster flexibility and physical strength.

The curriculum extended to throwing and catching ball exercises, promoting hand-eye coordination, as well as crawling and climbing activities to nurture strength and flexibility. Additionally, children were engaged in group games to encourage cooperation and teamwork.

This initiative stands as a significant stride towards advancing children's motor skills and elevating their physical well-being, laying a robust foundation for their future growth in sports. The Olympic Academy remains committed to contributing to the holistic development of the youth through strategic programs and engaging activities.
