UncategorisedSupreme Council, BOC hold joint Ramadan ‘Ghabga’

September 11, 20192

?The Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) recently held their annual joint traditional Ramadan ‘Ghabga’ for its employees at the Intercontinental Regency Hotel’s Riffa Ballroom in Manama.
This gathering was organized with the aim of further strengthening camaraderie amongst circuit personnel while enjoying a special occasion during the Holy Month.
Ghabga is derived from the word ghoboug, which means eating late at night. In addition to the scrumptious first-class meal, the BOC staff enjoyed an evening of socializing.
Attended by BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar as well as other high-ranking officials from the Supreme Council and the committee, the function featured a variety of activities such as quizzes, raffle draws and music show performed by the Bahrain Defence Force band.
Askar, along with BOC board members Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Abdulhakim Al Shino and Isa Ishaqi, also presented certificates of recognition as well as gifts and awards to the honorees.
Askar welcomed the attendees and thanked them for their interaction with the programme of the function.
He noted that the concept of the traditional Ghabga includes social values that strengthen the bond between Bahrainis and reinforce friendship and kinship during the most sacred Muslim month.
Ghabgas increase during the second half of the month because most people devote the first half of the month to family members and relatives.
