Construction of a modern hospital specialized in sports medicine was given the go-ahead, the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) announced yesterday (December 15) after the fourth meeting of the board held in Seef area.
In this meeting, chaired by Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and BOC president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the board discussed a number of subjects on their agenda.
After approving the report of the committee third meeting held on May 15, the board reviewed the committee budget for the next two years.
BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar then made a presentation of reports on the committee’s programmes organized recently.
Shaikh Nasser took this opportunity to congratulate BOC board member and Bahrain Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Federation president Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al Khalifa on becoming vice-president of the International Bodybuilders Federation.
The Supreme Council chairman also congratulated Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa on being appointed second vice-president of the International Equestrian Federation, and wished both officials success.
The standing panels of the committee then briefed the board in details about its activities and future plans, in addition to the report of the General Assembly of the BOC which also took place last May.
The board showed satisfaction for the achievements of the sports teams and officials, with 264 medals in total claimed this year. The board was directed to extend their efforts and build on the nation’s achievements. 
The annual report of the Executive Directorate efforts in 2014 was also discussed, in addition the BOC constitution – approved by the International Olympic Committee – as well as the consolidated coaches affairs regulations.
At the end of the meeting, Shaikh Nasser and members of the board had a cake cutting ceremony to celebrate the Kingdom of Bahrain’s 43rd National Day.
