The Executive Committee of this month’s 56th ICHPER.SD Anniversary World Congress and Exposition has approved the list of speakers for the four-day event, which will be held in the Kingdom of Bahrain from December 18 to 21.
Leading the speakers Korea’s Dr. Dang Yang, honorary president of the International Council for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance (ICHPER.SD), who has a vast 38-year experience in this field.
ICHPER.SD President Dr. Adel El Nashar will also be present to offer his contributions. Dr. El Nashar has a PHD certificate from St. Petsburg University in the US in 1984.
He is also international visiting scholars at the University of Minnesota, and is currently a professor at the University of Bahrain’s Physical Education and Physiotherapy College.
Other speakers to contribute to the congress include Li Li Ji, a director at the School of Kinesiology, a Professor and Director at the Laboratory of Physiological Hygiene and Exercise Science.
Dr. Ji has a PhD certificate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1985, a Masters from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1982 and a Bachelor from the East China Normal University in 1976.
Another speaker will be Briton’s Dr. Simon, specialised in sports issues for 20 years now, and has scientific contributions in the field of sports management research, sports sponsorship, sports organizations management. He was among official speakers at many international conferences.
Dr. Yashiro Hatano, one of the most experienced research from Japan, is also expected to present his paperwork the congress, in which he will focus on the international physical fitness project.
Dr. Hatano made a special study in the 1960’s, in which he recommended 10,000 steps daily that would be enough to burn through roughly 20 percent of our caloric intake, on average.
He is a graduate of Tokyo Gakugei University, Tokyo, Japan (1951), a professor at Tokyo Gakugei University (1981-1998), a National Institute of Fitness and Sport professor at Kanoya (1998-2000), and a professor and deputy chairman at Kyushu University of Health and Welfare, Department of Sport, Health and Welfare (2000 –
Within ICHPER.SD organization, Dr. Hatano was International vice-president from 1991 to 1995, Asia Regional vice-president and general secretary (2006-2008), Finance Committee chairman, author of 38 books and more than 300 articles in the professional journals. His area of specialization includes sport science, health science and fitness testing.
The Executive Committee is being headed by Bahrain Olympic Committee general secretary Abdulrahman Askar, and is putting its final touches on this first-of-its-kind event in Bahrain.
The congress is organized by the Bahrain Olympic Committee in cooperation with the International Council for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance (ICHPER.SD) and the University of Bahrain.
The main slogan of the congress is ‘Towards Building a New Sport System’, and will feature six workshops – women’s sport, sport for all, partnership and marketing, fitness, the Olympic movement, science and sports performance.
Some of the congress objectives is to promote active lifestyle and how important it is related to personal, physical and mental health and also promote general physical activities in the Kingdom.
The congress is in compliance with the directives of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and BOC president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in an attempt to link science with sport.
