?Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) member and women’s sport committee chairwoman Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa will travel to Kuwait today (May 2) to attend the 18th meeting of the GCC Women’s Sport Organising Committee.
Scheduled to take place on Monday at Crowne Plaza Hotel, the meeting will be chaired by Shaikha Naima Al Ahmed Al Subah of Kuwait, chairwoman of the present session. Shaikha Hayat will be traveling along with BOC International Affairs coordinator Mohammed Al Zayed.
Committee members will discuss several significant issues on their agenda, such as the approval of the 17th meeting report and Oman hosting the Fourth edition of the GCC Women’s Games in 2014, in addition to determining the dates for the Third GCC Women’s Handball Championship in Qatar in 2015.
Other subjects of interest include organising the Second Women’s GCC Youth Volleyball Championship and the Third GCC Women’s Youth Basketball Championship.
Shaikha Hayat, who is also attending the opening ceremony of the Second GCC Basketball Championship during her stay in Kuwait, said she hopes that the meeting will bring several fruitful results that would contribute to promoting GCC joint action in the field of women’s sport.
She also expressed confidence in Kuwait ability to organise the Second GCC Basketball Championship and wished the Bahrain team success, commending the role of the Bahrain Basketball Association and its president Adel Al Assomi in preparing the team for this event.
