?Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar asserted the importance of putting together all the efforts and stepping up the preparations for the awards ceremony of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Scientific Research Award in the field of sports, due to take place in December.
This statement was announcement at Askar’s meeting with the executive team of the award, comprising Fajer Jassim and Mohammed Al Mudaweb.
The meeting was one of several regular gatherings arranged by Askar in an attempt to follow up all developments of this year’s award, which will be open to participants from all around the Arab region for the first time.
Askar reviewed a number of researches presented by participants from Algeria, Jordan, Palestine, Bahrain and Egypt, in which different themes were highlighted.
He also approved the administrative report of the visit made by award board of trustees general secretary Dr Abdulrahman Sayyar and his coordinator Mohammed Al Mudaweb to Jordan, where they attended a scientific conference hosted by the University of Jordan in July 2016.
The Nasser bin Hamad Scientific Research Award in the field of sports was launched in 2012 by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee President.
The award is in recognition of the scientific research and its role in sport development in Bahrain in three key areas – sports management, sports training, and sports medicine. The award is sponsored and supported by the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC).
