The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) had a special evening to celebrate its annual Ramadan ‘Ghabga’ on Wednesday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Manama.
Organised in cooperation with the Bahrain Journalists Association’s Sports Media Committee, the event was staged at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Manama and was part of the BOC commitment towards it employees.
It was patronized by BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar, and attended by Bahrain Journalists Association’s Sports Media Committee chairman Mohammed Qassim and other representatives from both parties.
A number of activities have were held as part of the evening, including the opening remarks by Askar, followed by a heritage show by Bahrain’s public music band, the honoring of the committee’s pioneer staff and raffle draws on a number of valuable awards and coupons.
Askar said he was pleased to celebrate this special occasion, and conveyed the greetings of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and BOC President, to all the committee attendees.
Askar said the committee is proud of its successes at all levels, and noted that the achievements of the committee is significantly larger than the number of its employees.
The BOC general secretary also commended the significant role of national media authorities in developing sports movement in Bahrain, and described them as major partners in the successes accomplished by the committee.
Late on, Qassim delivered a speech, in which he thanked the BOC for its support to the Bahrain Journalists Association’s Sports Media Committee, which contributed to its recent achievements.
The event concluded with special awards presented to a number of categories based on functional discipline of the employees, private duties and employees attending overseas events, in addition to quiz questions and raffle draws.
