?Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of 2019 Bahrain Sports Day, Abdulrahman Sadeq Askar, commended the efforts of all organizing committee members to ensure the success of the event, scheduled for February 12.
This was announced during the fourth meeting of the organizing committee yesterday (Sunday) at the Regency Inter-Continental Hotel in Manama.
A number of subjects were brought up in regards to updated arrangements made in preparation for the third edition of the Sports Day.
Head of Sports Activities Committee Lounes Madene demonstrated a series of sporting events to be staged at the sports village of Isa Sports City in Riffa, near the National Stadium.
These activities will be open for men and women of all ages, while several booths have been confirmed to showcase different products and services presented by their entities.
On his part, member of the Organizing Committee and BOC Rashid Al Zayani spoke about only-women running and cycling races, due to take place from 3pm to 5pm at the Bahrain International Formula One Circuit.
Other activities at the circuit include an autocross race in the parking lot from 4pm to 8pm, in addition to karting races, all open to women’s citizens and expats alike. Entry will be free of charge.
Representatives of the four governorates – Southern, Capital, Southern and Muharraq – have also presented their respective programmes, which commence early in the day and involves citizens and residents as well as students and their parents.
The organizing committee was also briefed on the steps calculation mobile application, being managed by the Information Technology Department of the Bahrain Olympic Committee and is expected to launch soon, while the Ministry of Health is also planning to launch a similar application that contains other features.
Commercial stores that will offer discounted rates on their clothes and sports equipment on this occasion, in response to the circular issued by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, were also confirmed.
Members of the Organising Committee made several proposals that aims to achieve the sustainability of sports activities in the society, especially for ministries and government bodies employees.
