?The second meeting of the organising committee for the 2015 Schools Mini Olympics had its second meeting recently to finalise issues related to marketing and sponsorship.
The second edition of the Olympics is due to be held from 1 March until April 30. It is organized by the BOC in cooperation with the Education Ministry and the sports associations.
During the meeting, chaired by organising committee chairman Lounes Madene, latest arrangements and preparations in regards to the courts and fields hosting the competitions were reviewed.
The mechanism of the qualifying matches in football and basketball were also brought up. The boys qualifying matches are scheduled to take place from March 2 to 8 and involves teams from Al Naseem, Al Noor, AMA and Al Hekma, Sacred Heart and British Schools.
There were six competition set for this year’s edition, football, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, athletics and swimming.
The Mini Olympics aims to spread and promote the values and principles of the Olympic among government and private schools in the Kingdom, and motivate them to practice sports activities and follow a healthy life style.
This event features cultural programmes and field visits to national teams training as well as meetings with Olympic heroes in an attempt to boost their morale and achieve the aspirations in future Olympics.
