?The Bahrain Olympic Academy is looking ahead to a new success as a set of new and promising programmes will take place this year.
The academy, which is under the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), yesterday (Sunday) has uncovered its plans and programmes for 2018 during a Press Conference at Hani Royal Hotel in Seef.
Among most anticipating programmes to be brought up this year is the Level 4 of the National Coaching Programme, which aims to qualify national coaches in different sports.
This was announced by academy director and international instructor Nabeel Taha, who said he is proud for what Bahrain has accomplished in the field of training since 2013.
Taha noted that the academy, which was formerly known as the Sports Training and Development Centre, has made significant development over the past years in terms of providing leading training courses, workshops and seminars for coaches, not only from Bahrain, but from other part of the Arabian Gulf.
Other presentations were made by academy members Mahmood Yateem and Ahmed Ali, who gave detailed analysis of what the academy has offered in the past, and the promising progress to be made this year.
Also during the conference, a presentation on the region’s first-ever sports performance laboratory was made by Lounes Madene and Dr Vladimir Suarez Felipe.
They spoke about the hi-tech facilities available at the laboratory, including VO2 Max device, which measures maximum volume of oxygen that an athlete can use, in an attempt to ensure safety of the athletes’ health and prevent sudden health crisis.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar was also present at the conference, in which he thanked the academy for its efforts in the development of its programmes and the dedication of its staff towards achieving its aspirations.
He said the strategic plan of the academy is in line with the directives of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the king for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and BOC president.
