?Bahrain’s national jiu jitsu team returned from Amman winning one gold and one bronze medals at the West Asia Jiu-Jitsu Championship, organised by the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation.
Bahrain’s prominent martial arts icon Ali Monfaradi bagged both medals for Bahrain in the event, in which more than 100 fighters from nine countries from West Asia took part. It was the first ever gold medal for Bahrain in an international event.
The team was welcomed on return at Bahrain International Airport by top sports officials, led by Bahrain Martial Arts Association President Ahmed Abdulaziz Al Khayat.
Al Khayyat congratulated Monfaradi on this impressive results, and commended his performance at the championship.
Al Khayyat asserted that the milestone achievement of the Bahrain National jiu-jitsu team was the fruitful outcome of the constant support of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King Personal Representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sport Chairman and BOC President.
He also congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, for the achievement.
