?The Organising Committee of the 2019 Bahrain Sports Day, scheduled for February 12, has confirmed the venues for the mini sports villages located in different parts of the kingdom, it was announced yesterday (Sunday).
The third edition of the Sports Day is organized by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) and will this year feature sports village in each of the kingdom’s four governorates in an attempt to build up on last year’s edition success.
Held at the Regency Hotel in Manama, the second meeting of the organizing committee focused on a number of subjects that have been accomplished over the past few days.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant secretary general and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) secretary general Abdulrahman Askar, who chaired the meeting, thanked the partners – Information Affairs Ministry, GPIC, Batelo and Regency Hotel for their support to the event.
Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, Shaikh Saqer bin Salman Al Khalifa, said that a meeting with representatives of the four governorates resulted the approval of activities that each governorate will have during the event.
The Northern Governorate will have a walkathon event at A’ali walkway in addition to some recreational games. Several medical centres, providing a number of health tests, will take place from early morning.
Muharraq Governorate, on its part, will also bring various events, notably a football competition involving players aged 40 years and above, as well as running and tug-of-war contests at the club Muharraq.
As for the Capital Governorate, will have its activities at Al Najma Club in cooperation with the Military Sports Federation. These events will include a walkathon near Al Fateh corniche, as well as recreational activities at the club premises commencing early in the day.
The Southern Governorate has also confirmed its programme for the 2019 Sports Day, The governorate will hold several events at the Awali walkway.
Rashid Abdul Latif Al Zayani, member of the Organising Committee, said the Bahrain International Circuit has agreed to host a cycling race as well as a marathon and a walkathon for women from 3 pm to 5 pm.
On its part, the Shura and Parliament Councils are also to have their respective activities during the day, which include a 4km walkathon as well as other events like tug-of-war, table tennis and badminton.
