The closing ceremony of the third edition of the School Mini Olympics is all set for today (Thursday) at Isa Sports City’s Bahrain Volleyball Association gym in Riffa.
Commencing at 1.50am, the ceremony will be held under the patronage of Education Minister Dr Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi, and attended by high-ranking sports officials from the Bahrain Olympic Committee, the organisers of the event.
They include Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar and board members of the committee and other officials from the Education Ministry.
The programme of the closing ceremony begins with the national anthem of the Kingdom of Bahrain, to be followed by speeches from the Bahrain Olympic Committee and the Education Ministry.
A short film will be presented on this occasion, featuring some of the most significant action from the Third School Olympics. Representatives from the sponsoring companies, the participating schools and other contributors will then ben honored.
The Mini Olympics got underway on April 21 with more than 3,000 students, representing 16 government and 18 private schools, in the fray.
This year’s edition of the School Mini Olympics features a record nine sports events this year, namely football, basketball, volleyball, athletics, aquathlon, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo and athletics for disabilities.
