?Bahrain’ national shooting team had an honorable finish at the recently-concluded International Grand Prix in Gabala, Azerbaijan.
Hasan Majed made put up one of his best-ever performances in the championship and took the shotgun skeet competition gold medal amidst tough challenge from participants from Turkey, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Russia, Iran, the UAE and host nation Azerbaijan.
The 15-member Bahrain delegation, which also includes head Sara Zaman, coach Valeriy Timokhin of Australia and 12 athletes, were given a special welcome on return.
Bahrain Shooting Federation shotgun manager Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, vice-president Shaikh Hamad bin Rashid Al Khalifa, general secretary Ebrahim Al Binali and other board member were at the reception of the team.
Shaikh Khalifa and Shaikh Hamad both greeted members of the team and congratulated them on their performances at the championship, in which 68 of Asia’s best shooters were in the fray.
On his part, gold medal winner, Majed expressed pride for this victory, which he attributed to support of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president.
