?Young athletes of Jau and Askar villages enjoyed a game of football along with former internationals Hamad Mohammed, Mohammed Salman and Mahmood Jalal during a visit of the supervising committee of Al Firjan Playgrounds project to the Southern Governorate.
The project, initiated by Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President, was recently unveiled, a plan that sets up playgrounds equipped with integrated sport and entertainment facilities.
A dedicated team, comprising Mohammed Lori, Hasan Ismail, Hamad Mohammed, Mohammed Sulaiman and Mohammed Al Rumaili, have initiated a number of similar visits to other parts of Bahrain in an attempt to provide people in different age groups with multiple sport facilities and entertainment services.
Jalal, who is presently a national coach, said he is proud to join the team to put this initiative into action, and asserted the importance of such idea to beef up national teams with young athletes.
He expressed gratitude to Shaikh Nasser for his keenness to revive football playgrounds, which in turn would promote sport as a healthy lifestyle among different segments of the society.
By staging these events, the BOC aims to increase the local community’s literature about the importance of sport activity in developing noble morals and protecting individuals against modern diseases.
Al Firjan playgrounds project serves the strategic objectives of the Bahrain Olympic Committee and strategy, which is based on three main pillars: increasing community participation in sport, improving and preparing special and public sport facilities, and developing talented athletes.
It is anticipated that developing such playgrounds will encourage citizens and residents to participate in sport and physical activity.
