?His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa today received His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President.
HM the King congratulated HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa on being conferred the Association of National Olympic Committees (Anoc) Medal of Merit for his outstanding efforts at the administration level. The audience which was held at Al-Safriya Palace was also attended by heads of sport associations. The medal, which is the highest honour given by Anoc, is conferred on outstanding administrative personalities in the Olympic work.
HM the King commended the achievement of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), which was conferred the Olympic Laurel Distinction, on the sidelines of the General Assembly meeting of Anoc, which was held in Doha, Qatar. HM the hailed HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa for his dedicated efforts to promote the Olympic movement in Bahrain, lauding landmark achievement which put Bahrain’s pioneering Olympic strides in the limelight. He thanked HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa for the landmark BOC achievements under his presidency which, he said, contributed to achieving administrative and technical strides.
HM the King hailed the honourable results achieved by Bahraini sportspeople in different regional, continental and international championships. He credited Bahraini champions, who made history winning two gold medals and silver medal in the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, recently held in Brazil. He commended the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) which was conferred Olympic Laurel Distinction in recognition of BOC president and members’ dedicated efforts, wishing HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa and all Bahraini youth success and progress to serve Bahrain and ensure more national achievements.
HM the King took pride in Bahraini youths who honoured their country in all international arenas, hailing their strong determination to excel in all sport games. He reiterated resolve to continue supporting and encouraging Bahraini youth to pursue their successful march and honour the Kingdom of Bahrain in all arenas. HM the King lauded Bahraini International Olympic champion Ruth Jebet who won Anoc Best Performance Award. Jebet made headlines winning the the women’s Olympic 3000m steeplechase gold in the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, being the first ever Bahraini Olympic gold medal.
HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa expressed deep thanks and appreciation to HM the King, commending royal keenness on supporting and encouraging the sport sector in Bahrain. He lauded Bahrainis who are holding regional or international positions, describing them as ambassadors who represent and honour their countries abroad. He paid tribute to HM the King for his constant drive to support and encourage the sports community in Bahrain, vowing to continue strenuous efforts with utmost determination and unwavering resolve to preserve achievements and build on sport strides.
