?THE Executive Office of the GCC National Olympic Committees’ Presidents yesterday (MAY 16) had a consultative meeting to revise andmake necessary amendments on the consolidated bylaw of the GCC Sports Organising Committees system.
Held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, the meetings also highlighted several other issues in regards to re-examining regulations of the GCC Organising Committees of sports games.
The amendments were based on proposals from the Bahrain and UAE Olympic Committees, as well as the GCC Women’s Sports Organising Committee.
Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) General Secretary Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa, chairman of the present session of the Executive Office of the GCC Olympic Committees’ Presidents, chaired yesterday’s meetings.

He said the Executive Office has agreed on amending a number of regulations within the consolidated bylaw, where the revised draft will be presented for discussion today at the meeting of 77 of the Executive Office.
The draft will then be submitted to Presidents of the GCC Olympic Committee in order to approve it during their meeting on Sunday (MAY 19).
Shaikh Ahmed stressed that the consultative meeting also aimed to develop and strengthen GCC regulations and bylaws to keep the pace with the upcoming stage needs.
He stated that the new amendments aimed at avoiding some of the disappointing decisions made during regional tournaments such as late withdrawals from taking part or organising events by imposing a set of new regulations, stressing that the joint GCC action is managed by certain laws and regulations, and not personal whims.
The meeting was also attended by general secretaries of national GCC Olympic Committee, namely Mohammed Al Meshel of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed Al Kamali of the UAE, Oman’s Taha Al Kosheri, Obaid Al Anzi of Kuwait and Qatar Olympic Committee Sports Affairs director Khalil Al Jaber.

Other issues included the scheduling of future meetings related to the preparations for the second edition of the GCC Beach Games in Doha from October 20 to 26 next year.
Bahrain is hosting a number of crucial meetings over the next few days and featuring members of the GCC countries in an attempt to enhance joint co-ordination among people of the Gulf region in the youth and sports sectors.
