?A purpose-formed committee, tasked at following up the implementation of Al Firjan playgrounds initiative, resumed its visits to a number of sports grounds around Bahrain to promote sport as a healthy lifestyle.
The initiative, which was officially launched in Muharraq Governorate, is in line with the vision of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President.
In their second inspection visit, committee members Hasan Ismail, Hamad Mohammed, Saeed Al Aradi, Rami Al Murbati and Mohammed Al Remaili, joined by former national football team stars Ala’a Hubail and Ali Saeed, youngsters at Al Malkiya and Sadad villages were honored with commemorative gifts, donated by BOC.
Hubail and Saeed also joined the young footballers in a fun match, and shared some advices as well as suggestions in an attempt to motivate them to continue playing the game on daily basis as much as possible and avoid being exposed to electronics for most of the day.
Hubail, top scorer of the 2004 Asian Cup edition, said he was pleased to be involved in such a programme, which would play a major part in the revival of traditional playgrounds.
On his part, ex-international goalkeeper Ali Saeed shared the same thoughts and thanked Shaikh Nasser for this initiative that bids to beef up the national team with promising young stars.
Meanwhile, visits will continue today while covering areas in the Southern Governorate – Jao and Askar, with former internationals Mahmood Jalal and Rashid Jamal to join the supervising committee members during these tours.
