?The successful efforts of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee President, to allow Bahrain’s Muharraq Clubs to take part in the Saudi football league 2019/2020 season continued to make high strides of applauds by the national sport community.
Sports Club chairmen gave double thumbs up to the initiative of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa to involve Bahrain’s top football clubs in the Saudi Professional League from next season onwards.
The move is part of a comprehensive plan set up by Shaikh Nasser to develop football in Bahrain and to add more quality to the Bahraini players spearheading the country in future competitions, especially the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Sports clubs in Bahrain described this idea as one of many crucial contributions of Shaikh Nasser to sports in Bahrain, especially football, and is part of his plan to develop the game in the country to make it capable of competing on a higher level of football.
Riffa Club chairman Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalid Al Khalifa said the idea will undoubtedly contribute to the development of Bahrain football clubs on the administrative and technical levels, taking them to true professional standards.
Shaikh Abdulla said the hard efforts of Shaikh Nasser to football in Bahrain makes everyone proud in the football community in this country and reflects his true desire to take the game in Bahrain to become more superior and efficient.
On his part, East Riffa Club chairman Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa said the initiative is one of the unique gestures of Shaikh Nasser in an attempt to boost football in Bahrain in a short period.
Shaikh Abdulla noted that the idea would promote the already strong ties between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia in all areas, especially sports, and is certainly bringing a lot of benefit to Bahrain sports, in general, and to Muharraq Club, in specific.
Al Ahli Club chief Khalid Kanoo shared the same thoughts as he expressed pleasure for this first-of-its-kind concept, which is a priority in Shaikh Nasser’s vision to take football in Bahrain to an all-new era of success and prosperity.
Kanoo said Muharraq Club’s participation in the Saudi Professional League is a significant step in the right direction in the right time that would have positive influence on the game, as Bahraini clubs will have the opportunity to compete in a stronger league with some of the region’s top clubs and the world’s best professional players in the fray.
Isa Al Qattan, chairman of Al Najma Club, joined hands with his counterparts and said the participation of Muharraq club in the Saudi professional league reflects Shaikh Nasser’s keenness to develop the game and bring all the constructive suggestions that would create ideal conditions for the development of Bahraini football.
He added that this important step will have a positive outcome on the progress of football in the nation, and will give the Bahraini players additional experience, in addition to creating a new generation of advanced level players due of the competitiveness of the Saudi league and popularity in all aspects.
Manama Club chairman Zuhair Kazerooni congratulated Muharraq Club on being chosen to represent Bahrain in the Saudi Professional League next season, and said that this decision would bring noticeable benefits to the Bahraini club, in specific, and to football in Bahrain, in general.
He added that the participation of Muharraq Club in the Saudi league underlines the historical relations and brotherly ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as this blessed step is to promote further integration between the two brotherly countries in all fields, especially in the field of sports, which is always witness close cooperation between leaders and officials of the two nations.
Mirza Asad, chairman of Al Shabab Club, said the idea is pioneering and unprecedented on such a level, and will contribute significantly to the development of football infrastructure in the Kingdom, and a boosting step to enter the world of professionalism.
He added that the initiative reflects the strong will of Shaikh Nasser and his sharp vision to support the Bahraini football to reach the highest levels.
