?Supreme Council for Youth and Sports deputy general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee general secretary Abdulrahman Askar commended the overall strategy of the Bahrain Volleyball Association (BVA) to support and qualify the youth team for future championships.
Askar also expressed satisfaction with the steps undertaken by BVA in regards to its strategic plan that was announced last year to achieve excellence for volleyball in Bahrain by 2020.
This was announced at Askar’s visit to BVA premises at Isa Sports City in Riffa, where he was briefed on what have been executed by the association so far as part of it strategic plan.
Joined by BOC Sports Affairs executive director Abduljalil Asad and Media & Public Relations director Mohammed Lori, Askar met BVA vice-president Jehad Khalfan, general secretary Feras Al Halwachi and other board members.
On his part, national team manager Yousif Khalifa gave a presentation with detailed statistics on the stages of development of the team skills level and results achieved in recent competitions.
Khalifa also noted a number of obstacles that may affect the team’s progress such as the lack of regularly-played matches and international participation.
He stressed that the technical staff is in the process of forming four reserve teams by the end of 2020 in an attempt to create a solid basis of players’ positions.
Late on, Asad discussed ways to benefit from the Sports Performance Laboratory and the National Sports Medicine Centre to improve the performance and abilities of the team, while Lori praised the technical staff at the association, which reflects their keenness to enhance national trainers’ presence within the technical teams, stressing the importance of hiring international expertise in the field of training in future stages to develop the capabilities of national trainers.
