The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) yesterday (Tuesday) celebrated the Bahraini women’s day at its premises in Seef.
A special gathering ceremony of the committee’s women’s staff, which came in recognition of the Bahraini women’s efforts in all areas, was also patronised by member of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, the BOC and Women’s Sport Committee chairwoman Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa.
During the function, Shaikha Hayat paid tribute to women for the crucial role they have played in this vital sector for more than 50 years, given the fact that figures indicate that over 14,400 persons are working in this sector, of whom 36% are women
It’s worth noting that each year, the Bahraini Women’s Day is held under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King, and the President of the Supreme Council for Women. It recognises Bahraini women’s achievements in a different sector.
This year celebrates the contributions of Bahraini women under the theme: “Women in the Financial and Banking Sector.” It will be held at the premises of the Bahrain Bourse at the Financial Harbour.
