the Sport and Environment Committee and Athletes Committee, in order to perform the roles assigned to them to the fullest.
This is in compliance with the new strategy of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, headed by Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in an attempt to boost sports movement in the kingdom of Bahrain.
Technical Director at BOC Maden Lounes highlighted the importance of activating the role of the various working committees to have positive contributions in supporting sports march, pointing out that a series of meetings were held with heads of the committees to develop the visions and proposals aimed at improving their work and expand their roles.
Lounes stated that he meeting with Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, head of the Women’s Committee, was to discuss the proposed mechanisms for the development of women sports in the Kingdom.
It includes the creation of sports centers for women in all the provinces, activating Women’s programs within sports federations and clubs, and coordination with the Ministry of Education to open women’s centers in schools where the best talents will be picked up.
Lounes added that he also had meeting with head of the anti-drugs committee chairman Dr. Hussain Al Haddad and discussed with him the importance of setting up a plan for a series of awareness programs to educate players, coaches and all members of the community on the dangers of steroids, and holding an annual conference discussing this issue.
Another meeting was held with Chairman of the Sport and Environment Committee Dr. Zakaria Khonji, during which they recognized the essential role of the Committee, proposed activities that will contribute to activating the role of the committee, nominated some of the candidates of the new formation, and identified their plan and future needs.
Lounes said he met with the chairwoman of the Athletes Committee Ruqayaa Al Ghasra and discussed with her the essential role of the committee and its main tasks, besides reviewing some proposals, such as forming a special committee of players in every sports associations.
He affirmed that the technical directorate seeks to develop other committees to enrich action within the Olympic Committee, and hoped that his efforts willh help in developing the technical work, leading to the promotion of the sports movement in Bahrain.
