Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) representatives Maryam Mardana and Hasan Abdulrahim recently attended an open day in Baku where the organisers unveiled their designs in Azerbaijan’s capital – the host of the Fourth Islamic Solidarity Games in 2017.
The event was organized by Azerbaijan Islamic Solidarity Games Operations Committee (AISGOC) and attended by members of the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) from 39 Islamic states.
The Bahraini duo, along with other members from the NOCs had the opportunity to learn more about the preparations, took part in competition venue tours and enjoyed the hospitality for which Azerbaijan is renowned.
More than 70 delegates from 39 different countries took part in the event, including attendance at the official One Year to Go milestone reception.
“We were happy to have welcomed so many visitors to Baku in this momentous week for Baku 2017,” said Dr. Chingiz Huseynzada, Vice President of Azerbaijan NOC and Second Vice-President of Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation.
“We now have less than one year to go until the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku and I am certain that the NOCs were delighted with the facilities on offer to their athletes and we are confident of putting on a successful event next year.”
