Bahrain Olympic Committee acting general secretary Abdulrahman Askar hailed Bahrain volleyball different achievements in various sports events, stressing its significant successes in recent years.This came during Askar’s visit to the Bahrain Volleyball Association premises in Isa Town, where he met board president Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.Askar said the recent successes of Bahrain volleyball is compatible with the aspired strategies adopted by the Bahrain Volleyball Association, aimed to promote its achievements in this discipline on all levels.He recalled the Bahrain junior team winning both the GCC and Arab championship trophies, as well as the senior team’s honorable achievement after coming second in the final qualifying round of the World Cup qualifiers in Tehran, where they only lost to hosts and favourties Iran in the deciding match.On his part, Shaikh Ali expressed appreciation and pride for the support provided by the Bahrain Olympic Committee to the volleyball association, noting that it played a major part in all the rapid development of the game in Bahrain and contributed to these recent achievements.During the visit, both parties discussed the future challenges for the Bahrain volleyball, including the national team taking part in the GCC Championship.They also reviewed ways of developing beach volleyball, as Shaikh Ali presented a new idea to establish a beach games complex which will be beneficial for all beach-related sports in Bahrain.In this regard, both sides decided to prepare an initial view of this project and submit it to the Bahrain Olympic Committee for further studies and take necessary actions.
