?Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar congratulated the leadership on the youth handball team winning the Asian Championship in Bahrain.
The nationals recovered from a three-goal 9-12 half-time deficit to edge Japan 25-23 in an exciting final in front of a capacity crowd at Khalifa Sports City’s hall in Isa Town. This first-ever Asian Championship title ensured Bahrain their third consecutive birth in the next edition of the World Championship next year in Georgia.
Askar congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister on this victory.
Askar lauded the efforts of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council of Youth and Sports Chairman and BOC President, and his support of the team which boosted the players self-confidence and high morale to outperform so as to reach the World Cup final match in Asia.
The BOC general secretary affirmed the importance of the encouraging supportive stance on the part of the whole family of Bahraini sports fans alongside our national handball team in its bid to win the golden medal.
He commended the efforts of the technical and administrative crews of the team to quality for the world cup finals. He also noted the contributions of the Bahrain Handball Association, which played a major part in this victory.
