?Acting General Secretary of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) Abdulrahman Askar attended the closing ceremony of the sports associations evaluation workshop at the National Stadium’s Conference Hall in Riffa.
Organised over the past two weeks, the workshop was presented by Jordanian Olympic Committee vice-president Sari Hamdan with 33 general secretaries and other sports officials taking part.
During the function, Askar affirmed the committee’s eagerness to activate to the sports associations evaluation process starting from this year, and in line with the directives of BOC president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Askar noted that organizing this workshop is regarded the first step towards a comprehensive evaluation plan, through which the distribution of the 2015 budget on all national sports associations will be made.
He said the BOC will now develop a number of specific criteria, through which the evaluation process will take place, and will later distribute the budget equally to the associations, pointing out that this step aims to upgrade the performance of the associations at all levels.
Askar also expressed appreciation to Hamdan for his active participation in this workshop, during which he offered all his experience to the general secretaries and executive directors who took part.
On his part, Hamdan thanked the BOC for inviting him to conduct the workshop, and lauded the administrative organization and the quantum leap performed by the committee in this regard. He also noted the significant role of Askar in boosting the performance of sports associations.
Hamdan said the Kingdom of Bahrain has become among developed nations in the sports field, in light of the available administrative capacities, such as Asian Football Confederation president Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa.
Both Al Shino and Al Hamdan then were on hand to present the certificates to the 33 participants.
Also present at the ceremony were BOC member Abdulhakim Al Shino, sports affairs executive director Jehad Khalfan, administrative and financial affairs executive director Khalifa Salmeen and other directors at the committee.
