?Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) acting general secretary Abdulrahman Askar recently attended the GCC National Olympic Committees’ general secretaries meeting in Amman.
During the meeting, which took place at the Jordan Olympic Committee premises in Amman and was headed by president of the present electoral cycle Obaid Al Anezi of Kuwait, a number of topics were highlighted, including discussions on Jordan, Yemen and Morocco joining the GCC sports system.
Chairing the Jordanian party at this meeting was Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC) vice-president Sari Hamdan.
Also present at the meeting were general secretaries of the Jordanian, Yemenis and Moroccan national Olympic committees.
They looked into the decision of the GCC Supreme Council issued after the Riyadh Summit in December 11 to promote cooperation between the GCC and the Kingdoms of Jordan and Morocco.
Late on, they reviewed joint action in the field of sports among the GCC countries and setting up visions and future plans that would activate joint action in the field of sports between the National GCC Olympic Committees and JOC.
The general secretaries also had an agreement in regards to the mechanism of communications and coordination between the Executive Office of the GCC National Olympic Committees and JOC.
These recommendations will be submitted at the next meeting of Their Highnesses and Excellencies Presidents of the GCC National Olympic Committees.
After his return from Amman, Askar said he was pleased for the positive recommendations which this meeting came up with, and praised the cooperation of the JOC and stressed that this partnership will serve sport in all of the GCC countries and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan once its activated.
