?Supreme Council for Youth and Sports deputy general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar yesterday (Sunday) asserted the committee’s full support to Bahrain’s recently-launched Merida cycling team in an attempt to achieve its aspirations.
This statement was announced at the launching of the team at a ceremony held under the patronage of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and BOC President.
Askar expressed pride for this announcement by Shaikh Nasser aimed to promote the Kingdom of Bahrain various sports, and noted that such initiative would certainly motivate young Bahraini riders, thus expand the foundation of cycling in Bahrain.
