?Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) acting general secretary Abdulrahman Askar affirmed the kingdom’s readiness to host the Olympic Solidarity/Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Regional Forum for West, Central and South Asian National Olympic Committees on May 7 and 8.
This came during Askar’s meeting with representatives of the OCA in Kuwait City on the sidelines of the GCC National Olympic Committees meetings.
The meeting was also attended by BOC sports advisor Abduljalil Asad, Information Technology director Nawaf Abdulrahman, BOC International Affairs executive coordinator Ahmed Al Qarainees and OCA deputy director Hiader Farman.
During the meeting, the two parties discussed all aspects of the Forum, both in terms of organization or themes that will be highlighted.
Askar said the BOC will prepare a comprehensive plan to accomplish all the arrangements and facilities for the event, pointing out that the committee has begun its preparations quite early and will harness all the capabilities necessary to do so.
On his part, Farman that the OCA will be supervising the forum in accordance with its themes, in which first day will feature Olympic Solidarity programs provided by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) through a delegation, which will be present in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The second day, representatives of the organizing committees for the next Asian Games set to take place in 2014, specifically the Asian Games in South Korea, and the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, in China, and the Asian Beach Games in Thailand.
Farman noted that representatives of the organizing committees will prepare all procedures required for participation in these games with representatives of national Olympic committees, adding that there are 26 national Olympic committees from Western, Central and Southeast Asia, to take part in the forum, in addition to the OCA delegation and relevant officials.
Both sides also reviewed latest amendments on the BOC statute by the General Assembly and the approval from the IO. All remaining procedures have been finalized, which includes the submission of the statute during the General Assembly meeting of the BOC for approval, then submit it again to the IOC for final approval.
