?Bahrain Olympic Committee sports affairs executive director Abduljalil Asad recently attended the Ninth General Assembly of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) in Baku, in Azerbaijan.
It was announced that the Fourth Islamic Solidarity Games will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan on May 12-22, 2017.
The schedule and the types of sports to be included in the Games were agreed earlier during the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation.
Proposal submitted by the UAE to organize the first Islamic Cycling Championship in 2016, as well as to have the next General Assembly in Saudi Arabia, were both approved.
The Games will feature 16 sports – swimming, athletics, basketball, boxing, football, gymnastics, judo, karate, shooting, table tennis, tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, wrestling, judo for the blind, and athletics for special needs.
The event was chaired by Vice-President of the federation Ahmed Kalkaba under the supervision of the Secretary General of Federation Faisal Abdulaziz Al-Nassar in the presence of the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan Azad Rahimov and representatives of more than 40 national Olympic committees and members in the Federation.
