?Bahrain’s athletes at the recently-concluded Arab Weightlifting Championships in Tunisia were rewarded for their honorable results.
The championships, held from October 9 to 16, featured men’s and women’s divisions as Bahrain came out winning 16 medals in total, including one silver and 15 bronze.
At the honouring ceremony, which took place at the Bahrain Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Federation (BWBF) premises in Um Al Hassam, Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar and federation president Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al Khalifa presented awards to the honorees, in the presence of BWBF representatives.
In his statement marking this occasion, Askar commended the results achieved by the Bahraini women’s and men’s athletes in this week-long championship, and lauded the backing of Shaikh Abdulla to weightlifting in Bahrain, which contributed to this achievement.
On his part, Shaikh Abdulla noted that significant role of the BOC in providing the sports associations in Bahrain with all that would enable them implement their programmes, and noted that his continued support to the BWBF has played a major role in expanding the foundation of the sport and built on the previous successes of the federation.
At the end of the ceremony, Shaikh Abdulla presented a commemorative trophy to Askar in appreciation to the prominent role of the committee and its contributions to the federation.
