Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) board member, Bahrain Table Tennis Associaiton president and chairwoman of Women’s Sport Committee Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa congratulated Bahrain runner Hajer Al Umairi for qualifying for the Olympic Games to be held in Rio de Janeiro in August by winning the 100-metre race in Bulgaria.
Shaikha Hayat expressed her utmost delight at the qualification of Al Umairi, who will be part of a 34-strong Bahrain contingent at Rio.
Shaikha Hayat hailed the outstanding performance of Al Umairi in Bulgaria, and noted that the increasing number of Bahraini athletes taking part in international events adds to the series of achievements of Bahrain.
She said the achievement was a result of the support of Representative of His Majesty for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, chairman of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and president of Bahrain Olympic Committee Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The Supreme Council for Youth and Sports board member also attributed the outstanding outcome to the continued backing of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first vice-chairman and Bahrain Athletics Association president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
