?A first course in Advanced Recovery & Regeneration, organized by the Bahrain Olympic Committee’s Sports Training and Development Centre, has been planned for next week.
The four-day course, to be held at the National Stadium’s Conference Hall in Riffa, gets underway on Sunday (July 2) and continues until July 5 with 18 specialised national coaches of different sports expected to take part.
International instructor Nicolas Berryman of Université de Montréal in Canada will be conducting the course. Berryman was hired at the rank of assistant professor at Bishop’s University’s Sports Studies Department, where he is a member of the Psychological Health and Well-Being research cluster.
He is also a research associate at the Cognitive Health and Aging Research Lab at Concordia University, and at Université de Poitiers’ MOVE lab. 
After receiving a PhD in Sciences de l’Activité Physique from Université de Montréal, Dr. Berryman completed a Postdoc training at Concordia University’s Perform Center.
His research interests are oriented towards the physiological and cognitive factors associated to mobility and healthy aging in an older population.
In parallel to his academic career, Dr. Berryman is an exercise physiologist at the Institute National du Sport du Québec where his work mainly consists in monitoring the athletes response to the training load and to optimize training and recovery methods.
