?The GCC Women’s Sports Organising Committee approved the dates for the next GCC Women’s Games, due to take place in Oman.
The fourth edition of the Games will be held from March 8 to 18 in 2015, and will feature five sporting events, namely volleyball, basketball, handball, bowling and athletics.
It will also bring athletics, shooting, tennis, taekwondo, and endurance horse ride competitions for people with disabilities.
This was announced after the 19th meeting of the GCC Women’s Sports Organising Committee in Bahrain, chaired by Shaikha Naima Al Ahmed Al Sabah of Kuwait.
The committee also decided to address the GCC Handball Organising Committee to determine the dates for the First Junior Girls GCC Handball Championship, and the GCC Basketball Organising Committee to approve the schedule of the Third GCC Junior Girls Championship that will take place in the UAE IN 2015.
The meeting was also attended by Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) member and Women’s Sport Committee chairwoman Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Qatar Women’s Sport Committee chairwoman Ahlam Al Manea, UAE Women’s Sport Committee chairwoman Noora Khalifa Al Suwaidi, and Women’s Sport Committee chairwoman in Oman Sayyida Sana bint Hamad Al Busaidi.
In her statement after the meeting, Sayyida Sana bint Hamad Al Busaidi said Oman is fully prepared to host the fourth edition of the GCC Women’s Games next year.
She noted that the five GCC countries have already confirmed their participation in the 11-day event and the 10 sports events were also approved, and said the organisnig committee will establish its communication with the GCC sports organizing committees, which will hold the responsibility of supervising its respective sports events at the Games.
On her part, Ahlam Al Manea thanked Bahrain Olympic Committee and its Women’s Sport Committee for its efforts in embracing the meeting, which reflects its true intentions to serve women’s sports in the region.
Noora Khalifa Al Suwaidi was also all praise for the meeting programme, and for the fruitful decisions that came up, which in turn will play a major part in women’s sports development. 
She expressed joy for the UAE team winning their first match against Kuwait in the Fourth GCC Women’s Volleyball Championship, also being held in Bahrain.?
