?A visiting delegation from ‘Alfirjan Playgrounds’ programme was given a special welcome during their visit to Um Al Hassam playgrounds, where 40 anxious kids were presented with free 40 footballs as they explored their outstanding skills.
This idea developed by the Bahrain Olympic Committee, and was initiated by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King’s Representative for Charity and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, committee president.
It is an attempt to discover young football talents from all over the country, and engage them in an advanced training programme before becoming eligible to represent Bahrain and compete on a high standard.
The team, led by sports veteran Saeed Al Aradi, coach Hamad Mohammed, Bahrain Olympic Committee’s administrative services specialist Mohammed Sulaiman and the media crew, were received on arrival by representatives of Um Al Hassam, who introduced them to some of the area’s most talented football kids.
In their visit, the team was joined by former national football team stars Ghazi Al Kuwari and present international striker Mohammed Al Rumaihi, who presented the young players with some of their experiences as they explained the idea of the programme.
The team also performed a short practice session for the kids, which was conducted by programme supervisors.
This gesture was well admired by the kids and their youngsters who thanked the organisers for their efforts to activate the project, and their keenness and passion for the game.
On his part, Al Kuwari expressed sincere appreciation to the BOC for this remarkable gesture aimed at reviving football playgrounds in all cities and villages of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Al Rumaihi shared the same thoughts and said such initiative would help in developing the game in the different areas, and draw the attentions of kids to engage in football.
