Prince Abdullah bin Mosaad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia was named new president of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF), taking over the post from Prince Nawaf bin Faisal Al Saud.
This was announced at the extraordinary meeting of the federation held in Jeddah, in Saudi Arabia, yesterday (Thursday).
At this meeting, Bahrain was represented by Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) General Secretary Abdulrahman Askar, Sports Advisor Abduljalil Asad and Arab Relations Head Mohammed Al Zayed.
The meeting also brought a number of important topics on the ISSF agenda, such as detailed reports on the Third Islamic Solidarity Games in Palembang in Indonesia in 2013 and the fourth edition of the Games to be held in Baku, in Azerbaijan in 2017.
First vice-president Col. Hamad Kalkaba Malboum as well as newly-selected president Prince Abdullah delivered speeches on this occasion.
The ISSF, which was founded in 1985, has 59 member states under its umbrella and is based in Riyadh. The ISSF is the Governing body for the Islamic Solidarity Games; a multinational & multi-sport event.
